Our Resurrection Weekend services begin with our Good Friday Evening Gathering, March 29 at 7:00 pm, and conclude with our regular Sunday activities on Resurrection Sunday Morning, March 31!

Significance of the Reformation

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Examine your understanding of works in salvation. Works are expected fruit not requirements of salvation. Prepare your heart and mind to receive the word of God through preaching in prayer and study of the Word.
  • Repent of works and ideas in which you try to earn favor with God. Whether it is how righteous we can try to be, or, how much we can sacrifice, we subtly think our "extra" will gain us favor with other believers, and especially with God. Much like John and James who wanted to sit with Christ on the throne our hearts desire to be exalted in all things. But so that no one may boast, it is not of us, but of Christ and our boast should be in Him. 2 Cor 12:9 But he said, to me, 'My grace is sufficient for your, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' There I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
  • Pray over the church as a whole that our dependence rests solely in Christ and His completed work in life, death and resurrection to save those whom He predestined before the foundation of the world.
  • Examine personal fruit and corporate fruit to help determine if Christ work is understood, believed and His commands obeyed in fellowship. Pursue killing sin in any area with other believers that the bride of Christ might be found pure at His return.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Sam Karl: Elders' prayer; Bret Capranica: Scripture Reading; Adam Naler: teaching.
