Significance of the Reformation

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • The clear implication of Romans 3:21-31 is that no one will be saved by works, by the “good” things that they do. If you’ve been seeking to earn your salvation then turn from that and put your faith in Jesus. Because of who we are in our sin (Rom 3:10-20) the only way we can be right with God is through the redemptive, propitiating work of Christ that we are to receive by faith.
  • If you’re a believer, examine your life to see if there are ways that you are failing to live out sola fide. Are you still living as if your acceptance to God were dependent upon what you do? Confess and repent of these sins.
  • Are there ways that you are prideful or boastful about your salvation, as if, it is somehow because of who you are or because of some great deed you’ve done? Repent of these attitudes. They are contrary to the gospel and the explicit teaching of this passage.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Adam Naler: Elders' prayer & Scripture Reading; Sam Karl: teaching.
