Genesis - Summer 2017

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Believe the truth of God’s Word. The timeless truth that we can glean hope from in vv. 22-24 is that those who walk with the Lord in this life, will walk with him in the next. We will likely die a physical death like the other descendants of Adam in this chapter, but we know that if we’re walking with the Lord, that is, we’re in Christ, then we will be with God. Rejoice in this glorious truth, and have the confident expectation of this future, and allow that to motivate you to more fervently walk with the Lord now.
  • Contemplate which lineage you find yourself in: Cain’s or Seth’s? In what ways do you see that you are walking with the Lord? Or do you see a casual, negligent approach to God? Examine your life, and either rest assured in the faithfulness of God, or repent of your sinful approach to God and believe in his Son and then walk with him by faith.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Sam Karl: Elders' prayer; Adam Naler: scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
