Genesis - Summer 2017

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Think about the many ways that you have done things that God has commanded us not to do (or failed to do things God has commanded). What are the consequences of these sins?
  • Recognize your frailty as a created being. God made man from dirt. We will all return to dirt unless Christ returns before then. Be humbled by this truth, and reflect on our dependence upon the Lord.
  • Observe your hearts response to the judgment of God. Do you agree with it? Do you delight in his justice and righteousness that is revealed in it? Do you see God’s judgment of you in your sin as a right thing?
  • The grace of God displayed in this passage is but a taste of the grace of God displayed at the cross. How is the cross of Christ both a picture of judgment and grace? Look to the cross in faith and repentance. Marvel at the just Judge who has graciously chosen to save sinners by the means of the death and resurrection of his Son.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Adam Naler: Elders' prayer & scripture reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
