Genesis - Summer 2017

Prepare your heart for our Sunday Morning Gathering by looking through these suggestions that will assist you in making the most of our time together.

You will find tangible suggestions for putting scripture to action in your personal life and in our corporate body, links to the songs we will sing, and lyrics for you to prepare for our corporate singing.

Please see the Preparing for the Sermon post for suggestions in thinking more critically through the passage, meditating more intently on the text, and prayerfully seeking wisdom to deepen your understanding of the passage to be preached this Sunday.

Intentionally Act

  • Examine how you view the first two chapters of Genesis.  Do you view them historically accurate?  Is God's word clear here?  If it is not why do you think so?  Is it because of other views that challenge Scripture declaration of the creation account?  Repent if you are holding something above the Word of God.
  • How do you view rest?  Is it over-rated and lazy?  It is mandatory and any work that is performed on a day of rest is a sin?  Pray for clarity of God's design for rest embedded in the creation of all things and how you can apply this to your life.
  • How do you understand the creation account of man and woman in this chapter to define marriage roles?  Pray that your heart and mind would be open to align yourself to God's design as displayed in Scripture.
  • Pray for our church to align with Scripture in our understanding of creation and how that impacts our view of Scripture, God, and even our sin and need for a savior.
  • Click the links below to find the lyrics and recordings of the songs planned for our gathering this Sunday; practice the songs, study the lyrics and sing together.
  • Pray for those leading our corporate gathering this week and for the Holy Spirit’s work as the Word of God is further explained and applied: Dawson Bryant: music; Brett Harris: Elders' prayer & Scripture Reading; Bret Capranica: teaching.
