Our Resurrection Weekend services begin with our Good Friday Evening Gathering, March 29 at 7:00 pm, and conclude with our regular Sunday activities on Resurrection Sunday Morning, March 31!

Carefully Think

  • Read John 1:1-5, 9-14.
  • How does John describe Jesus? Who does John intend us to understand that Jesus is by this description?
  • Why would John call Jesus "the Word"? What does that title suggest Jesus' relationship to God is?
  • What was Jesus' role in creation? What does this suggest about Jesus' identity?
  • What kind of life is being referred to (v 4)? If that life is "the light of men," how does that help explain what John means by life?
  • What is the purpose of Jesus' coming according to 1:9-14?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • How could/should this description of Jesus impact your celebration of Christmas this year?
  • How should this description of Jesus affect how you worship and serve him? How would this affect the way you speak about him to non-Christians?
  • Seeing the desctiption of Jesus in this passage, what does it mean to "believe in his name" (v 12)? How does that affect the way you would talk about receiving Jesus in salvation?
  • How should this description of Jesus impact the way you think about your life and behavior? Make a list.

Intentionally Act

  • Use the description of Jesus in this passage in prayer to praise Jesus for who He is and what He has come to do.
  • Confess any sin that this passage brings to mind and spend time thanking God for what he has done through Jesus.
  • Pray for non-Christians to be convicted of sin and drawn to the glory of Christ this Sunday through all that takes place.
  • Pray that those who lead the service will edify the body in the most helpful ways: Dawson Bryant, music; Todd Arnold Prayer and Scripture Reading; Bret Capranica, teaching.
  • Listen to the music we will sing together. Meditate on the message of each song. Prepare yourself to sing with understanding and zeal.
