Our Resurrection Weekend services begin with our Good Friday Evening Gathering, March 29 at 7:00 pm, and conclude with our regular Sunday activities on Resurrection Sunday Morning, March 31!

Carefully Think

  • What are some of the first things that come to your mind when you think about the book of Ezekiel?
  • Read 1:1-3. What time period in Israel's history is Ezekiel's ministry? Where is Ezekiel? How does this compare to when and where Jeremiah was ministering?
  • Read 1:4-28. What do you learn about God in this vision? What is being communicated about his attributes (characteristics)? Why would Ezekiel need to see this sort of vision of God? How is God's glory described?
  • Read Ezekiel 4, 5, 12, and 24. Why does God call Ezekiel to do these sorts of bizzare things?
  • Read Ezekiel 8. What sorts of sins is Judah committing at the Temple? What does this account suggest about when Ezekiel is ministering (i.e., before or after the Temple is destroyed)?
  • Read Ezekiel 36. What does God promise Judah and Israel? List all that you see.
  • Glance through the headings of chapters 25-32. Who is being addressed and why?
  • Glance through the headings of chapters 40-48. What is being described?

Prayerfully Meditate

  • What vision of God is painted in the book of Ezekiel. What does this say about what Judah lacked and what they needed to know about God?
  • What lessons was Judah to learn during their days of God's disicpline? In what ways can we also learn from these lessons?
  • Do you see any possible ways God is presently teaching you because of your sin? How should you respond? What should you do? How does Ezekiel help you see these?
  • How should God's people as a whole (as a local church) respond to the events around us in our nation, in our world in light of what we read in Ezekiel?

Intentionally Act

  • What particular sins are recurring in your heart that reflect love for someone or something more than God? Confess them as sin now. Begin to address why your heart loves these things so dearly.
  • Do you know others who may be struggling under the loving, but severe discipline of God for their sin. Pray that they will learn the appropriate lessons and respond in appropriate repentance and renewal.
  • Pray for those who will attend our service this Sunday, that they will be edified, encouraged where most needed, convicted where appropirate, and enlightened in how to apply the message.
  • Pray for those who will be leading the service, that they will serve in a way that edifies the entire congregation: Dawson Bryant, music; Brandon Ferguson, prayer and Scripture reading; Bret Capranica, teaching.
  • Meditate on the songs for this Sunday and sing them through the weekend to prepare your heart to sing as a whole congregation. What are these songs saying about who God is and how we should respond to him?
