Elder's Prayer

Please find below the notes from the Elder's Prayer this past Sunday.

Father thank you for the privilege of witnessing the ordinance of baptism. Each time we do we are reminded of the gift of saving faith you give to us through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

As your word tells us it is by your grace we have been saved--and not only saved but increasingly conformed to His image.

We thank you for the transformation that causes us to desire to obey you and to submit our lives to your will.

As your word tells us, one of those signs of obedience is to outwardly proclaim our faith through baptism. To do so is an indication of true repentance and regeneration.

And when we witness the baptism of believers, we, as a church have the privilege and pleasure of supporting and affirming each other in Christ.

As the Apostle Paul tells us when we are baptized, we are baptized into our Lord’s death, and just as he was raised from the dead, so are we raised into a newness of life. Through baptism, we illustrate the life-giving gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

For that, we give thanks this day and pray for--for all of us whom you’ve saved--that we would continue to walk in faith and obedience, praising and glorifying you in all that we do.
