As we continue our Sunday morning studies in Matthew 6:9-15 on prayer, I wanted to put a resource in your hands that will assist you in praying specifically for your state and national legislative leaders. Capitol Commission is a discipleship ministry that serves state legislative bodies. They recently put together a new web-resource that will assist you in daily praying for our leaders.

From their recent announcement:

Capitol Commission has launched a new tool in our work in reaching the capitol community for Christ. We have a new website for sole purpose of prayer for the lawmakers of our states and nation. Go to www.usaprays.org . On this new website:

• Click on the state of Missouri or the state in which you are residing.
• On each state page is a daily listing of the lawmakers for which we are praying.
• You can also sign up for a daily or weekly email reminder of those for whom we are praying.
• Each legisalator has a photo, a link to his or her state biography, and Facebook page (if they he or she has one).
• Also included is a link to send an email--which can be used to let your lawmaker know that you prayed for him or her today.
• Other helpful links are also on each page, feel free to browse.
• This listing will automatically be updated for all the new legislators who take office in 2013 and anytime there is a change.

If you regularly pray for our leaders, then this is an excellent tool to put on your prayer toolbelt. If you do not pray regularly, this tool can be most helpful in encouraging you to do so.
